Investigation into July murders taking time due to high number of accused: Home Affairs Advisor

He said this while talking to reporters in Gazipur on Tuesday (June 10) morning. He visited Gacha Police Station under the jurisdiction of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.

The Home Affairs Advisor said, the plaintiffs in the July-August murder cases are the public. Earlier, the police would file cases naming 15-20 people. Now, the number of accused in the cases they file is much higher. There are many innocent people in these cases. Therefore, it is being delayed to find out who is guilty and who is innocent, punish the guilty and ensure that innocent people are not harassed, so that the investigation process is completed.

Regarding police reforms, the Home Affairs Advisor said, “A pilot project has been taken as part of the police department reforms. Initiatives have been taken to accept cases and GDs online across the country. For this, there is no need to come to the police station anymore. In addition, glass rooms will be set up for remand and interrogation of the accused, so that it will be possible to see from the outside how they are being treated.”

Regarding the case trade, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, “No one involved in case trade and corruption will be spared. But yes, corruption is the biggest problem in Bangladesh. If it could be brought under control, the country would have moved forward a lot.”

At that time, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr. Md. Nazmul Karim Khan and senior officials of GMP were present with him.
